- If you are sitting B, this is a major subject. Cadets who treat it as a minor topic are giving away marks that are easier to secure than most.
- If you are sitting C, do not over-invest. 8 marks is 8 marks. Your time belongs to the heavy blocks.

There are two different things with similar names, and confusing them leads to preparing for the wrong one.

The NCC–NIELIT cyber security programme — a separate government initiative, described as running in two stages: an online awareness programme open to cadets, and a longer offline programme for cadets selected on merit. It is a government scheme. We have no connection to it, we cannot enrol anyone in it, and completing anything of ours has no bearing on selection for it. If you want to take part, ask your ANO.

- Learn the vocabulary cold. This is a factual, finite list and the paper is multiple-choice — the highest-return revision on the subject.
- Be able to tell similar threats apart, because that is exactly what a four-option question is built to test.
- Know the reporting route, not just the threat.
- Weight by your own level — major subject at B, minor at C.
- Do not confuse the subject with the government programme.
