Why this article looks different from others you will find
Search for what an ex-Agniveer can do next and you will find confident lists of reservations, percentages, age relaxations and exemptions across central forces and state police.
VSVSV is a private learning platform. It is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by the Ministry of Defence, the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, the Indian Air Force, or any recruiting body. We do not conduct, influence, or take part in recruitment or selection. This article is study material. It is not a recruitment notification. It confers no entitlement of any kind.
We are not going to reproduce them, and it is worth explaining why rather than just leaving a gap.
They vary by force — each central armed police force publishes its own recruitment rules.
They vary by state — state police recruitment is a state subject, and there is no national rule. What one state provides tells you nothing about another.
They vary by cycle — A provision announced in one recruiting year can be amended, expanded, restricted or not carried forward in the next. Recruitment rules go stale silently, and a stale figure looks exactly like a current one.
And several of the figures circulating are not traceable to a notification at all — they are repeated between sources, each citing the last.
Our register — the only source from which we state a number — carries the Agnipath scheme's own terms and the three services' recruitment notifications. It does not carry CAPF or state police recruitment rules. So we do not state them. AGV-D-007 in our own working rules: no number without a verified primary source, and "I have seen it elsewhere" is not one.
That will be less satisfying than the confident list. It is also the reason anything else on this site can be relied on.
What we can tell you: how to check one properly
This is the useful part, and it is a skill that outlasts any particular figure.
1 · Go to the recruiting body's own portal — the specific force, or the specific state's police recruitment board. Not an aggregator, not a news article, and not a social media post.
2 · Open the current recruitment notification for the post you are interested in — the PDF itself, not a summary of it.
3 · Find the reservation and relaxation clause — it will be a numbered section, usually titled for reservations, relaxations, or eligibility concessions. Read it in full.
4 · Check whether ex-Agniveers are named — named explicitly, as a category, with the terms of what applies to them.
5 · Check the cycle — the notification's recruiting year or advertisement number. A provision in a document from two years ago is a fact about two years ago.
6 · Note what form it takes — these are different things and they are routinely conflated: a reserved quota of posts; an age relaxation; a relaxation of physical standards; an exemption from a stage; or bonus marks. Each has different consequences for whether and how you apply.
7 · Save the PDF — if a question arises later, that document is your reference.
Three cautions
A press announcement is not a recruitment rule — an announcement that a provision will be made is a statement of intent. The rule exists when it appears in a recruitment notification, in the terms the notification sets.
A provision in one force does not imply it in another, and one state's rule says nothing about the next state's.
Nobody can secure you a reservation — where a provision exists it is applied by the recruiting body against your documents. Any person or website offering to arrange, confirm or expedite one is describing something that does not exist. Our article on spotting a fake recruitment notice applies here without modification.
What to keep, from the service, that these routes will want
Independent of what any particular provision says, discharge documentation is what evidences the service, and it is what a recruiting body checks. Keep the documents the service issues on completion, in original, safely. Keep certified copies. Keep them with your educational certificates, checked for consistency of name and date of birth, which is the same problem that catches candidates at the start of a recruitment and catches them again later.
We have an article on why documents must agree, and it applies as much on the way out as on the way in.
What we are explicitly not saying
We are not saying these routes are open to you — we are not saying they are closed either. We are saying that whether they are is a fact about a specific notification, which you can check yourself in a single sitting, and that nobody who has not read your notification can tell you.
And we are not making any claim about outcomes — not what proportion of ex-Agniveers enter these forces, not how a reservation affects a particular application, and not that service improves a candidacy. Those would all be claims we have no basis for.
What to do
- Identify the specific force or state board you are interested in.
- Open its current notification PDF and read the reservation clause yourself.
- Check the cycle on it.
- Note which form the provision takes, since they are not equivalent.
- Keep your discharge documentation in order, whatever you decide.

This article is general guidance written from publicly available recruitment notifications and scheme documents issued by the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, the Indian Air Force and the Ministry of Defence. Eligibility, exam patterns, physical standards, pay and scheme terms are revised with each recruitment cycle, and every figure stated here is pinned to the cycle it was read from.
