What Agniveervayu publishes, and what it does not
This article has to begin with a distinction that most material on this exam glosses over.
VSVSV is a private learning platform. It is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by the Ministry of Defence, the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, the Indian Air Force, or any recruiting body. Agniveervayu publishes its subjects, question numbers, marks and per-section timings in detail. What it gives for scope is a standard — 10+2 under the CBSE syllabus — rather than a topic list of the kind the Army publishes for its categories.
So a topic-by-topic "Agniveervayu syllabus" is somebody's reading of the CBSE 10+2 syllabus, not a document the Air Force issued. That includes ours. We say so rather than presenting a selection as though it were published scope.
What is published
Under the candidate instructions for the 01/2025 Agniveervayu examination, the paper depends on the side a candidate applied on.
Science only — sixty minutes
- Physics — questions 1 to 25, 25 marks, 20 minutes.
- Mathematics — questions 26 to 50, 25 marks, 20 minutes.
- English — questions 51 to 70, 20 marks, 20 minutes.
Other than science — forty-five minutes
- English — questions 1 to 20, 20 marks, 20 minutes.
- RAGA — questions 21 to 50, 30 marks, 25 minutes.
Both — eighty-five minutes
- Physics — questions 1 to 25, 25 marks, 20 minutes.
- Mathematics — questions 26 to 50, 25 marks, 20 minutes.
- English — questions 51 to 70, 20 marks, 20 minutes.
- RAGA — questions 71 to 100, 30 marks, 25 minutes.
RAGA is Reasoning and General Awareness. The standard throughout is 10+2 CBSE.
What "10+2 CBSE" tells you, and what it does not
It is a real constraint and it is worth taking seriously, because it is an upper bound as well as a description.
What it tells you — physics and Mathematics are at the level a candidate has already studied at 10+2. The paper is not drawing on undergraduate material, and a candidate who has covered the CBSE 10+2 syllabus in those subjects has covered the ground.
What it does not tell you — it does not tell you which chapters carry weight, which topics recur, or how the questions are shaped. Anyone who tells you those things with confidence is describing a pattern they have inferred, and inferring a pattern from candidate recollections is a different activity from reading a published syllabus.
Our position on that is simple. We will teach the CBSE 10+2 content in the subjects the paper names. We will not tell you which chapters are "important", because the Air Force has not said.
RAGA — Reasoning and General Awareness
This is the section a candidate is least likely to have a school syllabus for, and it is the largest single section in both the other-than-science and the both streams under the 01/2025 instructions, at thirty questions and thirty marks.
Its scope is not published as a topic list. Treat any breakdown of it — including ours — as editorial.
What can be said without inventing anything is that the section name itself carries information. It is two things: reasoning, and general awareness. A candidate who prepares only the general-awareness half has prepared for part of a section that is worth thirty marks in two of the three streams.
English
English appears in every stream, at twenty questions and twenty marks under the 01/2025 instructions. It is the one section a candidate cannot avoid by choosing a stream.
And under the Agniveervayu advertisement for the 01/2027 cycle, the paper is bilingual in English and Hindi except for the English paper. So a candidate relying on the Hindi rendering has no Hindi rendering of this section, in any stream.
That combination — unavoidable, and English-only — makes it the section most worth a candidate's attention if their English is weaker than their science.
What the timing does to your preparation
Under the 01/2025 instructions, each subject is separately timed and submits itself automatically when its time runs out. That has a direct effect on how to use a syllabus.
A syllabus normally tells you what to study. Here it also tells you what to be fast at. Twenty-five Physics questions in twenty minutes is under fifty seconds each, including reading. A topic you know but answer slowly is, in this format, close to a topic you do not know.
So the preparation instruction is unusual and it is specific: work each subject to the point where you can answer at the paper's pace, rather than to the point where you can answer at all.
What to do
- Confirm your stream, because science and other-than-science share only English.
- Work the CBSE 10+2 syllabus in the subjects your stream names.
- Treat any chapter-weighting or RAGA topic list as editorial, including ours.
- Give English real attention — it is in every stream and it is English-only.
- Practise at the paper's pace, in blocks the length of the real sections.
