- Army Wing — military history, the armed forces, field craft and battle craft, communication, map reading (60 marks — the single heaviest specialised block in any wing), military weapons and equipment.
- Naval Wing — military history, naval orientation, navigation, seamanship, ship modelling, naval communication, watermanship, fire fighting and damage control, swimming.
- Air Wing — military history, the armed forces and the Indian Air Force, aircraft and aerofoil basics, airmanship, airframe, aeromodelling.

You must also clear 33% in each of the four papers — a strong paper does not carry a weak one. If a guide tells you Alpha starts at 90%, it is describing the older scheme.
या कागदाची तयारी कशी करायची?
- Practise on OMR sheets. Knowing an answer and marking 175 bubbles accurately under time pressure are different skills, and marking errors are avoidable marks lost.
- Stop preparing essay answers. Move that time into factual recall — definitions, sequences, numbers, parts, procedures. That is what MCQs test.
- Work out your minutes per question before the day, not during it. 175 questions is a lot of pacing decisions.
- Weight revision to the marks table above, not to what you find interesting.
- Don't neglect the practical. 150 of the 500 marks are practical, and you need 33% in every paper.
- Ask your ANO for your directorate's current position. Practical arrangements vary, and the order is revised.
